What is Juvederm?
Aged skin not only has lines and wrinkles but lost volume as well, which all can be addressed with Juvéderm. This hyaluronic acid filler is injected into lines and folds around the mouth and nose and can also be injected into hollow areas like the cheeks to increase volume. Since it is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in the body, it is absorbed easily to increase the production of collagen and elastin, which contribute to skin’s volume and firmness. San Antonio dermatologist, Dr. Garcia, administers Juvéderm Ultra and Plus to patients for younger-looking skin.
Best Candidates for Juvederm?
Individuals who are seeking to treat wrinkles without having to undergo surgery, are usually good candidates for Juvederm. Depending on how deep and how many wrinkles are being treated typically determines the filler product, but Juvederm works good in patients who wish to improve moderate facial lines or augment the lips. Those with deeper lines and creases may be better suited for thicker filler material.
Administering Juvederm
Juvederm is an outpatient treatment typically administered right inside our office. Similar to other injection treatments, the injection sites will be marked on your face using a washable pen. The amount of Juvederm administered is dependent upon the depth of the wrinkles and location areas. Some patients will need more or less of the product depending on the desired results. Typical treatments last approximately 30 minutes, but some can take up to an hour.

I have a great experience; the staff is very friendly. I got filler for the first time, and I’m thrilled with it. I regret not doing it before 😉.

What to Expect from Juvederm
Patients should expect to see immediate results following their treatment. Juvederm contains the anesthetic lidocaine, so patients should not experience discomfort, although there may be some redness at or around the injection sites after the treatment has been completed. The dermatologist may gently rub the areas of the face to help the filler spread evenly and smoothly. Treatment is expected to last up to a year and many patients return after that time frame.

Expected Cost of Juvederm
Some of our thicker, longer lasting fillers will cost more. Some patients may only require a single syringe of Juvederm to attain the results they desire, while other patients may need multiple syringes. The amount of filler product to use, as well as the treatment cost will be discussed in detail during the initial consultation.
